Welcome... Fáilte... Walcome...

In the spirit of cultural equality and aspiration to national unity on our island,
I give welcome to the visitor in English, Irish and Ulster Scots, Irelands three native languages.

Neda SoltaniA rifle crack, and down she fell...
The shooter thought no-one could tell
The outside world that she was shot
But clearly the fool forgot
Where there is a will there is a way
This girl is in Paradise with Allah today
And the scum that shot her down
Will someday face His wrathful frown
When Paradise he seeks to come inside
He'll find that permission is denied...

Fernanda: A Belfast Child
Roma Children

A child was born not in a stable
Not in a Roman ran state
But no: was born in Ireland
Born in Ulster: born in hate

What will in time come of Fernanda
What will come of her mum and dad
Do they think all Irish are Nazis
Because a few British skins are bad?

It was but kids who attacked them
Not because of the person within
But used the crimes of a few
To blame all of coloured skin...

The thinking of a coward
Who says their own community they do protect
If they are all there is to save Ulster...
Then Ulster is truly fecked!!

A Verse for
Aung San Suu Kyi

Aung San Suu Kyi
A bird in a cage sings as sweet
As a bird in a leafy tree
We still hear the birdsong
Though the bird we do not see...
The bird may live behind bars in a cage
But when it sings: in its heart: it is free

Ode to Iran

Admadinejad

What point to vote if its ignored?
Is that democracy?
What does it say of Iran as a nation...
What does it want to be?

But the people demand their voices be heard
In scenes not seen since the fall of the Shah in 79
They may supress the protests, deny the result
But they will in time have to answer to the Divine

And the wrath of God will be on the Ayotollahs
No matter how they tell him he is great
He will ignore their cries of Allah Akbar
He will make Hades their Eternal State...

Spirit of Peltier

Caged like a bird but flexing his wings
For a spirit can never be caged
Though he walks slower with advancing years
His spirit has never aged
And his voice reaches the whole wide world
Who the rights of man hold dear
But his voice, like a thunderclap will never be heard
By those who listen but refuse to hear.

But there is a next life, and the White Mans God
Is known as vengeful to those who do wrong
Especially done by those deeds in His name
To help their manifest destiny along
And maybe a land of Redmen may be
Shared with angelsand God up above
And Leonard Peltier there will be free
While the whiteman will have Hell as the White Western Empire he does so love...

Words from the a writer

As always in the world, current affairs give the writer new material with which to work, and unfortunatly most of it is tragic.

In Iran, many defy death and jail to protest at rigged elections, and here at home we now have the Roma being hunted from their homes in Belfast instead of the Irish natives.

Unlike the Irish natives, they did not respond with voilence, but did as Jesus asks and turned the other cheek.

Maybe if they respponded with a bit of the voilence they have been shown they just might get some more respect.

The blagards, and the brigands in the Village area according to the press blame them for crime - "looking into cars, they are sly, steal clothes from washing lines and childs bikes"

Some of this may have happened, but not all are to blame for the actions of a few, however large the percentage may be comared to the general population.

From a native Irish respective, no gypsy ever sent Irish to Barbados as slaves, or gave us the option of to hell or to Connacht.

This week gone was also the birthday of Burma's imprisoned leader Aung San Suu Kyi, and a verse for her brings up the tail of the three featured poems for this update.

Spiders and Slugs and Other Bugs
(a poem for Children)

Should your house too dry be
Spiders on walls it's said you'll see...
And if your house is too wet
Slugs and bugs is what you'll get

So keep a dehumidifier by the bed
And a water sprinkler if instead
Its spiders or slugs you want to keep at bay
Wise words to kids a woman once did say!!!

Lament for the Tamils

A nation crushed by military might
To keep united a state
So that one nation is kept inferior
So another may be great

A story told many times in history
We never learn or understand
From today in Sri Lanka
To before in my country, Ireland

They proved that might is right
So a war for freedom would cease
Look at the people they attacked
So they could bring them peace...
