St Patrick and the Snakes

Poems by Topic ::: Poems in Irish

Men of books now pour scorn
And for its own sake
They say he never used the shamrock
Or banished from our isle a snake.

Oh men of books who read and read
Are blonded by all you think you know
Why dont you leave your books aside
And out into the world go?

And you will find the joys of God
And all that He did create
And you may believe in his Glory
And find less need in books to state

He does not exist, so dont worry
And go ahead and enjoy your life:
Fine mantra, but what and who do you rely on
When to yor life comes trouble and strife?

St Patrick, he did exist
And gave us Christianity for our snakes
And used the shamrock the Trinity to explain...
But your existence proves he forgot the snakes!
